 Toy Story 3 Introduction:

Toy Story 3: The Video Game, also referred to as Toy Story 3: The Video Game, is a platform game released in 2010. It was developed by Avalanche Software and published by Disney Interactive Studios, closely tied to the 2010 film of the same name. The game became available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, and Microsoft Windows, with an OS X version ported by TransGaming. Additionally, a Nintendo DS version was crafted by n-Space, and an iOS game was created by Disney Mobile Studios based on the film. Asobo Studio developed another version specifically for PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable.


Disney's decision to have Avalanche Software develop the video game adaptation, rejecting THQ's proposal, was finalized in February 2008. Pixar also lent a hand to Avalanche, contributing a 10-person team to the game's development. Notably, most of the film's voice cast reprised their roles for the game.

Gameplay:


The game boasts two main modes: a story mode that loosely mirrors the events of the film, and the Toy Box mode, which offers a western-themed town where players can freely roam and customize their environment. Critics praised the Toy Box mode in particular, and the game achieved top-selling status in the UK.

In both story and Toy Box modes, players can control characters like Woody, Buzz, and Jessie, each with their unique abilities. The PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable versions extend gameplay options to include Aliens and Andy's soldier toys in specific levels. After completing a story mode level, players can replay it to attempt two Challenge modes: Cube Destruction and Time Attack, earning coins and unlocking trophies. The game also features three mini-games: Woody's Roundup, Buzz Adventures, and Aliens Escapades, based on Toy Story 2 events. Some levels in the PSP version require separate purchases via the PlayStation Store.

Toy Box mode, set in a western town, is open for customization and features missions from various characters. However, the Wii, Windows, and Mac OS X versions have fewer Toy Box options and lack multiplayer compared to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. The PS2 and PSP versions do not include Toy Box mode or multiplayer.

Exclusive to the PlayStation 3 version is the ability to play as Emperor Zurg in Toy Box mode, alongside Buzz, Woody, and Jessie. Zurg has his own missions and can use his vehicle and trigun to combat enemies. The game is also compatible with the PlayStation Move motion controller, offering downloadable mini-games designed for it.

An iOS mobile application for iPhone and iPod Touch includes two built-in games: Woody's Wild Ride and Toy Story Mania. The app allows the iPhone or iPod Touch to function as a controller for the Macintosh version.

Toy Story 3: The Video Game's narrative is grounded in the film's storyline. The toys, including Sheriff Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie, were formerly owned by Andy but have been donated to Bonnie as Andy prepares for college. The tale unravels as three of Andy's toys—Hamm, Rex, and Slinky Dog—share an adventure they experienced before their donation to Bonnie. This adventure involved being placed in Sunnyside Daycare, led by Lotso, a seemingly friendly stuffed bear who later reveals himself as a tyrannical figure.
